Postira is a picturesque fishermen village, mentioned for the first time in the 14th century. In its centre is a preserved historic mansion with Renaissance details, and the birth house of the poet, Vladimir Nazor, housing our apartment.
.

Postira has a population of 1554. The local population speaks the peculiar Croatian dialect of Brač, but also speak English, German or Italian, especially those dealing with tourism. The people are mostly engaged in agriculture, fishing, stone dressing and tourism. They will offer to you their genuine produce:

  • olive oil
  • olive-oil soaps
  • wine
  • spirits
  • dry figs
  • fish
  • lamb

  • Besides joining one of the organised boat excursions, you may rent a boat and visit the nearby beach, fish (with the required fishing licence), or just enjoy the beautiful sea.

Along the Postira sea front are numerous gorgeous beaches:

  • sand (for kids)
  • pebbled
  • wild

  • Same as the house with the apartment, the entire village is very old, made of the traditional Mediterranean architecture.
The parish church of St. John the Baptist was first built in the 16th century, its interior to be decorated with Baroque paintings later on.
Nearby are numerous archaeological sites, small churches and basilicas, certainly worth visiting.

Summers in Postira abound in various events, intended for children and adults alike:

  • Dalmatian pop-music concerts
  • fishermen festival
  • regatta
  • folklore performances
  • exhibitions

  • Postira is also known for its sport spirit. With its football playground, tennis courts, jogging and bicycling off-road tracks, it is the ideal place for a sport active relaxation.
